Paying for more than one AI?

How we decide
  1. Rarely used (≤1 day/week): cancel. Tap “I need this one” if only it does something; then we step it down one tier instead.
  2. Same job, two tools: tools are grouped by job (coding agent like Claude Code or Codex, AI IDE like Cursor or Copilot, chat/research). The one you use most stays; the rest are cancels.
  3. Same usage: your main tool stays (tap “Make main”). If you don’t pick, the one you spend more on stays. A price gap under $1 never decides; we keep both and ask.
  4. Maxed (hits limits weekly): if one bigger plan costs no more than the seats you split the work across, upgrade and drop the extra seats. Otherwise keep the cheapest backup seat.
  5. Never hits limits on a $50+ plan: step down one tier.

Usage buttons: Rarely ≤1 day/wk · Weekly 2–4 days, no limits · Daily ~6 days, sometimes hits limits · Maxed every day, hits limits weekly. Shared links keep the result they were made with. Prices are monthly list prices in USD; confirm on the vendor’s page before you cancel.

FAQ

Claude Pro vs ChatGPT Plus: which to cancel?

Claude Pro costs $20/month and ChatGPT Plus costs $20/month (prices checked 2026-10-01). They often do different jobs. This calculator counts Claude Pro as a coding agent (Claude Code) and ChatGPT Plus as a chat assistant, so paying for both can be fine. If you use both for the same job, keep the one you use on more days. If usage is equal, keep your main tool; a price gap under $1 never decides. If you hit Claude’s limits every week, the next tier is Claude Max 5x at $100/month.

Do I need Cursor and Copilot?

Usually not. Cursor Pro ($20/month) and GitHub Copilot Pro ($10/month) do the same job: AI inside your editor. If you pay for both, keep the editor you actually work in and cancel the other. That is $10–$20/month back ($120–$240/year). A terminal coding agent like Claude Code or Codex is a different job and is checked separately.

What is AI subscription overlap?

Overlap means paying for two or more AI subscriptions that do the same job: chat and research, a coding agent, or an AI IDE. Example: Claude Max 5x ($100) and ChatGPT Pro ($100) both used as coding agents. If the one you use most isn’t hitting its limits, the second is $100/month ($1,200/year) of overlap. Overlap isn’t always waste: if you hit limits every week, one backup seat can cost less than the next tier.
